Trainee excursion to Regensburg

This year’s trainee excursion on October 31st saw all commercial, technical and chemical laboratory technician trainees go to Regensburg with our trainer Petra Moniz-Furtado.

After a cozy morning coffee, we enjoyed an interesting tour of Thurn and Taxis palace and the adjoining monastery. We marveled at the elaborately designed ceiling paintings, viewed the room of Helene, the sister of Empress Sissi, who was married to a prince, and the splendid dining room and conservatory, which are still in use today. We also learned that the name “von Thurn und Taxis” means “of tower and badger”. Incidentally, the family still lives on the property today. The tour ended in a small church in the monastery, which is also still used by the family. Then we fueled up for the afternoon program with a delicious lunch in the nearby “Hacker Pschorr” tavern. Since it was Halloween on the day of our excursion, we couldn’t let things pass without something a little spooky. So we spent the afternoon in an “escape room”. Here, we had to solve various puzzles in an allocated time of 60 minutes in order to escape the locked room. Fortunately, everyone was able to escape and we were able to make our way back to Hirschau in the late afternoon in good spirits and in a very good mood. It was a great day and a great opportunity to get to know people and to strengthen our team spirit. A big thank-you to the management who made this excursion possible for us. Of course, we would also like to thank Ms. Moniz-Furtado and the trainees who helped organize the trip.
